I'm asking because I plan on shiny hunting Chi-yu.

You really think that US AT GAMEFREAK would create awesome shiny legENDdairys and give them to you FREE IN GAME?! AND LET YOU BREED THEM?! Simple answer: No

Chi-yu belongs to the Undiscovered egg group, which mainly includes legendary and baby Pokemon. The Pokemon that belong in this egg group CANNOT breed with anything, not even ditto.

Sadly, as ruin legends are shiny locked (they literally cannot be shiny), it is currently impossible to obtain shiny Chi-yu without hacking
