See, the problem is, I think I want to have a Flygon, via the desert, so that would make me have two ground types, via Midnight, and since I want a fire type as well, plus Rhino the Aron, seems like he's gonna stay, because of his great type duo, with only a few weaknesses and a lot of resistances, would mean would have two rock types if I focus on Marcargo, so, should I care about the doubling up on typing, or just pick the best one? And if so, which should I pick? That is, if I get all three, as it all comes down to luck.

Fire types aren't amazing in Emerald, what with the amount of Water types, so I wouldn't particularly recommend using one at all. If you must, Camerupt is probably the best of the three because of its secondary Ground typing, which allows it to get STAB on Magnitude and Earthquake. Sharing a typing with a hypothetical Flygon doesn't matter because the two share no weaknesses.

Torkoal can work fine thanks to it getting Flamethrower via level-up, but Camerupt's Ground typing will generally be more helpful. Magcargo is terrible and you should never use it if you have other options.

A good set might look something like:

Camerupt
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Strength / Return
