Why did I get a Galarian Meowth from breeding a Kantonian Meowth?

Question

So I was testing out if I could get another Kantonian Meowth by breeding the event Gigantamax one, but it turns out that you will get a Galarian one instead! Is that because it’s a special event Pokemon?

Back in Sun and Moon, when you get the Kanto variant of a Pokémon, you would have to give it an Everstone to prevent the offspring from being the Alolan form. It could be the same with Galarian forms in Sword and Shield.

It will be a Galarian Meowth always if your in Galar. Its the same thing with Alola, if you had a Kantonian Meowth and breeded it in Alola it will become a Alolan Meowth.
