Does the Event Meowth still Gigantamax if it evolves?

I really want to know because I got Sword as a Christmas present and I really don't want to evolve my Meowth if it prevents the Persian from Gigantamaxing.

It doesn't matter if it can gigantamax when it evolves, because it can't evolve at all. Gigantamax Meowth, Eevee, and Pikachu cannot evolve. In case you would like to have a persian anyways, you could breed it in the nursery, with the meowth holding an everstone so the egg won't hatch into a Galarian Meowth.

Ah. That's good to know. It would have been really annoying to evolve a Gigantamax Pokémon into one that can't.
