A good move on Avalugg would be body press. Good power due to high defense, 100 accuracy and covers weakness to rock and steel types. It learns body press by TR in Sword and Shield

Gen 9 NU Physically Defensive

Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Fairy / Fighting / Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Avalanche / Ice Spinner
- Body Press
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

Avalugg is in NU now, so here is a set for it. Avalanche is a powerful Ice STAB if a Pokemon attacks it. Ice Spinner can be used instead for the Ice STAB if you don't want to rely on opposing Pokemon to attack Avalugg. Whatever Ice STAB you use is useful for Ghost-types not named Froslass. Body Press is a nice coverage move that takes advantage of its high defense stat. Body Press is useful against Pokemon such as Dudunsparce, Tera Steel Appletun, opposing Avalugg, Cryogonal, and Blissey. Rapid Spin lets Avalugg clear away hazards on its side of the field. Recover gives Avalugg a source of HP recovery so it can stay in longer to tank more physical hits. Heavy-Duty Boots is used to prevent Avalugg from being chipped by hazards, which is useful if it hasn't used its Tera. Tera Fairy lets Avalugg turn its Fighting weakness into a resist and lets it have a Dragon Tail immunity. Tera Fighting allows Avalugg to have Body Press as a STAB move. Tera Ghost can be used to turn Avalugg's Fighting weakness into an immunity.

Gen 9 NU IronPress

Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Fairy / Fighting / Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Ice Spinner / Avalanche
- Recover

An IronPress set Avalugg can use in Gen 9 NU. This set should be used when the special wallbreakers on the opposing team are eliminated. Iron Defense allows Avalugg to boost its already high defense to make it harder for physical wallbreakers to wear it down. This works well with Body Press, as Body Press becomes more powerful the higher Avalugg's defense is. Ice Spinner is used for the Ice STAB since it doesn't rely on opposing Pokemon hitting it. You can still use Avalanche if you don't mind being hit to have a powerful Ice STAB. Having an Ice STAB is useful for hitting Ghost-types not named Froslass since Ghost-types are immune to Body Press. Recover gives Avalugg a recovery move so it can stay in longer. Heavy-Duty Boots is used to prevent Avalugg from being chipped by hazards, which is useful if it hasn't used its Tera. Tera Fairy lets Avalugg turn its Fighting weakness into a resist and lets it have a Dragon Tail immunity, which is useful since this set is a bulky setup sweeper. Tera Fighting allows Avalugg to have Body Press as a STAB move, making it a more dangerous move to switch into. Tera Ghost can be used to turn Avalugg's Fighting weakness into an immunity.

I Love This Set!!!
Gen 9 Monotype
Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Ice Body
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Iron Defense
- Rapid Spin / Avalanche
- Body Press
- Recover

(Thanks BananaBro for this set). Late game crusher. This Guy is awesome. I love watching Mono-Fighting quit because they have nothing against him. After you remove any Special threats, nothing is going kill this.

252+ Atk Choice Band Urshifu Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Avalugg: 300-354 (76.1 - 89.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Get up an Iron Defense and all opponents cry. I love continuing to Iron Defense as an opposing Urshifu does pitiful damage, then using a Recover and crushing all my opponents’ hopes and dreams. Proceed to sweep with Body Press. Rapid Spin for hazard removal, or Avalanche to prevent being walled by Mono-Ghost. Even if this is walled by Mono-Ghost, with Rocky Helmet, it can cause a headache for opposing Ceruldges and Basculegions. Love this Pokémon!!!

Why not Avalanche or Ice Spinner than Rapid Spin? You'd be able to hit Ghost-types, and Rapid Spin on a late-game setup sweeper isn't the best choice.
This is my team’s source of hazard-removal, but that’s a good choice, thanks!

Gen 9 NU Offensive Rapid Spin

Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Ghost / Poison / Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Atk / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Icicle Crash / Ice Spinner
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

At the time of this post, Avalugg finds itself to be a good Pokemon in NU, especially when paired with Chansey to form a ChanseyAvalugg (or EggTable) core. This set that I'm posting takes a more offensive approach rather than defensive core since the EggTable cores often use Gligar to help with the core's Fighting weakness while also providing another physical wall. When paired with Gligar, Avalugg having 404 Defense isn't bad, as having Gligar helps relieve Avalugg of having to switch into every physical attack.

Icicle Crash is used for the Ice STAB since not every Pokemon will attack Avalugg to make Avalanche a powerful move. Ice Spinner can be used for a consistent Ice STAB that doesn't have a chance to miss. Earthquake is a nice coverage move for Pokemon such as Salazzle, Copperajah, Klefki, Qwilfish, and Coalossal, Pokemon who resist Avalugg's Ice STAB. Rapid Spin lets Avalugg clear away hazards on its side of the field without clearing hazards from the opponent's side of the field. Recover lets Avalugg have reliable HP recovery so it can stick around to wall physical attackers while having a more offensive presence.

Heavy-Duty Boots prevents Avalugg from being chipped by hazards and works really well with Sturdy. Tera Ghost gives Avalugg a Fighting immunity instead of a Fighting weakness. Tera Poison lets Avalugg resist Fighting moves while having a decent defensive typing. Tera Ground is an option to block a Volt Switch from Pokemon such as Jolteon or Hisuian Electrode.

252 HP EVs are used for bulk. 60 Speed EVs allow Avalugg to outspeed Pokemon such as Palossand, Copperajah, and Coalossal. The rest of the EVs are used in Attack with an Adamant Nature to give Avalugg as much power as possible.

Gen 9 NU Curse

Avalugg @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Ice Spinner
- Earthquake / Body Press
- Recover

If you have another form of hazard removal on your team such as Defog Scyther, Avalugg can use a Curse set to serve as a lategame wincon. Curse boosts Avalugg's attack and defense stats, making it a potent wincon late game. Ice Spinner is used as the Ice STAB since it doesn't have a chance to miss unlike Icicle Crash. Earthquake provides coverage against Steel- and Fire-types such as Copperajah, Coalossal, and Tauros-Paldea-Blaze. Body Press can be used instead to take advantage of the defense boosts from Curse. Recover allows Avalugg to have reliable HP recovery to heal off any damage it takes. Tera Poison is used to make Avalugg resist Fighting moves and have an immunity to Toxic. You shouldn't setup with this set until all Special Wallbreakers on a team are knocked out.
