You can find the old amber in the glittering cave.

You can revive it in Ambrette town to get an Areodactyl.

You mean Aerodactyl? You need to use Rock Smash on the rocks in Glittering Cave. You can get the Old Amber from them. The Old Amber can then be resurrected in Ambrette Town. How long it takes is all chance, though. Personally I got mine off the GTS instead.
