How can I use Normalize in a beneficial way?

I know all of Skitty's moves become normal type, but how does this help a trainer out?
Now skitty's useless against any rock, ghost, or steel type, but are their benefits?

Actually, the only good thing about normalize is that you can paralyze ground types with thunder wave. From my experience.

Extra STAB power from moves x1.5 (same type attack bonus).
Benefit from silk scarf, all normal moves get 1.2x power.
