Should I evolve eevee to umbreon?

Started over in heartgold
Should I evolve my eevee for later in the game
I'm already at the mahogany town gym

I would evolve it into Umbreon. You should give it moves like Toxic and Will-O-Wisp, as it is hard for Umbreon to deal damage directly due to its low Attack and Special Attack. Umbreon has great Defense and even better Special Defense. Don't wait for an Umbreon.
