Retaliate's power double?

if I were to use explosion on one turn then throw in a Pokemon and use retaliate would the power be doubled?

Retaliate's power will only double if in the previous round one of your Pokemon have fainted.

So, yes. Retaliate's power would double. Base power would be 140.

Yes, the move retaliate doubles in power if one of your party's Pokemon died the previous round, regardless from what cause. I just did a quick trial with Azelf & Sawk against Heatran and the damage output was double after Azelf used explosion and Sawk used retaliate compared to when Sawk just used retaliate. (20% and 9%, but we aren't factoring damage variation here)
