What are the triangles on Togepi, Togetic and Togekiss?

So I have noticed that Togepi, Togetic, and Togekiss have the same triangle like shapes on their belly's. As in Togepi's case, they are on the shell of his "egg". Then on Togetic and Togekiss, they are on the belly but how did they get there. When it evolved did the evoluted form have them on it or how did they get there?

Like you said, the triangles are on Togepi's egg and the pattern was just carried forward. You could say that when Togepi evolves, the egg becomes part of Togetic's body.
