If a Pokemon is badly poisoned and switches out, when it returns will the poison damage be reset?

Let's say someone uses toxic on my pokemon and it is badly poisoned. Three turns later (with the poison's damage growing each turn) I switch the pokemon out. When it come back into battle, would the pokemon be hurt by the poison where it left off or would the damage reset to the first turn of being poisoned?

The amount of damage will start over and start building up again.
