Will it still be possible to connect to the internet?

So I know I can trade using local communication, but if I get another 2DS and I need to connect it to my Wi-fi will it work?

DS will still connect to Wifi, just not in the Pokémon games. You won't need it to trade between the two.

You can still connect to WiFi on your DS, you just won't get anything out of it, as anything that uses internet except Bank and Transporter are discontinued

Your 2DS will still be able to connect to the Internet, as this doesn't require Nintendo servers. However, any usage of Internet on the 2DS outside of Pokemon Bank and Transporter will be restricted.
