Did Piplup's Hidden Ability get changed in Gen 9?

I was poking around the GTS on Home and got a Piplup from Violet. I didn't even know the starters had been brought back yet, I thought that was gonna happen during The Indigo Disk. But then I noticed my Piplup had the Competitive ability, but this line's hidden ability is (or was?) Defiant. Did they change that this generation or is there something fishy with this Piplup?

In Generation 9, Piplup's line had their hidden ability changed from Defiant to Competitive.

It was specifically changed to that since it used the Empoleon line's inferior Attack stat and obviously competitive players would want maximum offense, defense and support viability. Competitive helps Empoleon users to improve damage output.
