PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

The couple that come to mind:

Remoraid (remora) - Octillery (Octopus)
Carvanha (piranha) - Sharpedo (Shark)

I guess this really only involves animal-based Pokemon.

One that is kind of pushing it is Rookidee (Chickadee) - Corviknight (Raven) I can kind of see how they would evolve though.

Pokemon like the Charmander line, (Lizard to Dragon,) don't count because they evolved to have wings and be more powerful.

Remoraid --> Octillery made more sense in the beta, due to their beta versions being more gunlike. Remoraid looked far more like a firearm, and Octillery has artillery as part of the name (plus Octazooka).
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT ON MY META POST ABOUT DUMB LONG ANSWERS I WILL HAPPILY RISE TO THE CHALLENGE IF ANSWERING THIS SJDBDBSBXBBE upvote purely because I love questions like these

Surskit - Masquerain (a spider to an eyeball moth)
Nincada - Ninjask (a cicada to a bee)
Carvanha - Sharpedo (a piranha to a shark)
Trapinch - Flygon (an ant to a dragonfly)

Ducklett - Swanna (duck to a swan)
Joltik - Galvantula (a tick to a tarantula)
Tynamo - Eelektross (a fish to an eel)
Phantump - Trevenant (a stump to a tree; it doesn’t work that way)
Pikipek - Toucannon (a woodpecker to a toucan)
Cutiefly - Ribombee (a fly to a bee)
Mudbray - Mudsdale (a donkey to a horse)
Rookidee - Corviknight (a chickidee to raven)
Blipbug - Orbeetle (Caterpillar to Ladybug, ladybugs don't start out as caterpillars.)
Debatable: Cosmog - Lunala/Solgaleo (a baby star into a sun lion and a moon bird)

Please let me know if I missed any!

WHAT ABOUT DUSKULL > DUSCLOPS
Ninjask is still a cicada, right?
Also the entire Bagon line.
This is great. I'm pretty sure Ninjask is still a cicada tho, a buzzard and a vulture are the same thing, and I agree that Feebas is totally different then Milotic, but Milotic whole shtick is being pretty, and slugs aren't pretty
Yo thanks guys, I appreciate all the insight regarding my oversights. Obviously I’m not an animal expert so all those little things help; I’ll do some more research and edit my answer when I’m on my laptop
I don't think that Patrat and Watchog should be on this list. Other than its name, which comes from patrol and rat, I don't believe it has any other similarities to a packrat. Bulbapedia states that the animals they're based on are similar. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Patrat_(Pok%C3%A9mon)#Origin https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Watchog_(Pok%C3%A9mon)#Origin
I also don't believe that Yanma and Yanmega should be here. Meganeura are ancient dragonflies, as far as I understand
Skrelp and Dragalge are based off of the same animal.

I'd also say Eevee definitely shouldn't be on this list. All of its evolutions are still foxes.
i know a lot about pigeons and i think pidove shouldn’t be on this list because pigeons are closely related to pheasants
Seals and walruses are in the same clade but still belong on this list. The pigeon and the pheasant aren't even in the same order

I will try to cover all of the examples (I'm crazy)
Ghastly (Ball of Ghost gas)- Haunter (Just a Ghost)
Exeggcute (Egg like seeds)- Exeggutor (Palm tree)
Magikarp (A fish)- Gyarados (Powerful Sea serpent/ Dragon)
Dragonair (Elegant snake-like dragon)- Dragonite (Fat and goofy, yet intimidating Dragon)
Togepi (Egg)- Togetic (Angel-like creature)
Remoraid (Remora) - Octillery (Octopus)
Wingull (Seagull)- Pelliper (Pelican)
Carvanha (Piranha) - Sharpedo (Shark)
Feebas (A ugly fish)- Milotic (Beautiful sea serpent)
Snorunt (Snow Cone)- Glaile (Ice Face), or Frosslass (Ice Woman Spirit)
Clampearl (A Clam)- Huntail or Gorebyss (Sea serpents)
Yamask (Mask Ghost)- Cofagrigus (Coffin Ghost) or Runerigus (Ruins Ghost)
Cosmoem (Cosmic Coocoon)- Solgaleo (Cosmic Lion) or Lunala (Cosmic Bat... I guess)

Phew, those were the ones that I could find, some of them are pushing, but your question was difficult.

Duskull turns into a cyclops. Should that one count?
There’s way more than this, I have half a doc so far. This is a good reminder for me to finish up though :/
dragonair is a chinese dragon
