Does the shiny breeding in gen 2 work on VC?

I am playing through crystal again, and I’m planning on breeding the shiny gyarados and whatever shiny I hatch from the odd egg for the 1/64 chances of a shiny. I want to make sure it works on virtual console. Does it?

The Virtual Console games are (almost) 1:1 ports of the originals, so the 1/64 shiny chances remain.
