Ok, so I want to answer this question as well, because I’d like to give a side by side comparison of these three fire starters.
Starting things off, I presume you don’t have the HAs of these 3 Pokémon, except maybe Cinderace. If you want to obtain their HAs, at least Cinderace’s and Charizard’s, you can grab them from Home. For Incineroar you can trade it from SM/USUM if you buy the ability to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Bank, or you can get someone to trade it for you. The reason I’m telling you this is because their HAs are all great abilities, and much more useful than Blaze. Cinderace gets STAB from everything due to Limbero, Incineroar is the best in doubles when it has Intimidate, and Charizard with Solar Power hits HARD as a Special Attacker.
With this in mind, Cinderace and Incineroar are theoretically better in doubles when they have their HAs. The only thing that Charizard misses out on is that it needs a special condition for its ability to work (sun, to be exact). Cinderace and Incineroar have the edge here because their abilities activate right away.
For their roles, Cinderace is usually a fast physical sweeper. With great speed and attack, and the ability to hit Dragapult with a STAB super effective Sucker Punch (which gets priority). Court Change can swap your opponents boosting moves, such as screens and Tailwind (Whimsicott usually carries Tailwind, and Whimsicott also usually carries a sash, just throwing that out there). Incineroar with Intimidate is a good tank. With access to Bulk Up, Darkest Lariat, Will-O-Wisp, and Fake Out (the set I use), it can make a great mixed tank with EVs invested in HP, Special Defense, and Attack. Charizard is a fast Special sweeper, and Solar Power just boosts its special sweeping capabilities even more. Roost, Heat Wave, Air Slash, and Solar Beam are the moves it usually carries (sometimes with Dragon Pulse instead of Roost). Solar Beam covers Water and Rock types, and with the sun set up for the Solar Power boost, it charges in 1 turn.
Now, I’ll post my movesets for them below, note that these are just what I personally use.
Cinderace @ Life Orb
Ability: Libero
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Court Change
- High Jump Kick
- Sucker Punch
- Gunk Shot
Usually I use a Heavy Duty Boots set, but since this is doubles where no one uses entry hazards, I’ve swapped them out for a Life Orb. Limbero allows it to always get STAB. Jolly gives it a speed boost, since the LO already gives it the power it needs. Court Change swaps things like your opponents screens to your side. High Jump Kick hits Rock types super effectively. Sucker Punch hits ghost types like Dragapult, and since Dragapult is faster than Cinderace, the priority is nice. Gunk Shot hits fairy types.
Charizard @ Leftovers
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- Scorching Sands / Solar Beam
Solar Power Charizard is a great sweeper in the sun. Leftovers heal off Solar Power damage. Timid gives it a speed boost because Solar Power’s special attack boost is plenty good. Air Slash is STAB. Heat Wave is STAB that hits both opponent, which is great in doubles. Roost heals what Leftovers can’t. With the addition of Scorching Sands, Charizard can now hit Rock and Electric types with a special move. Solar Beam hits Rock and Water types, and it charges in 1 turn with the sun up.
Incineroar @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 172 HP / 84 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Fake Out
- Bulk Up
- Darkest Lariat
I made this set a couple days ago, and I’ve taken taken a liking to it. It supposed to be a tank that can hit hard. Leftovers are for healing. Intimidate lowers both opposing Pokémon’s attack by one stage. The EVs allow it to be bulky with some investment in Attack for Fake Out and Darkest Lariat. Careful raises Special Defense and lowers special attack. Will-O-Wisp cuts the opponents attack in half. Fake Out gets free damage on one of the opposing Pokémon, unless they have Inner Focus or Dynamax. Bulk Up raises attack and defense. Darkest Lariat is STAB and your attacking move.
So, my personal favorite is Intimidate Incineroar, but it really depends on what kind of Pokémon you want. A physical sweeper, special sweeper, or a tank depends on your team. Also, if you can’t get an HA for any of these Pokémon, I suggest Scorching Sands Charizard over the rest of the options due to it being able to hit both opponents at once with Heat Wave. I’d also recommend a LO if it’s not Solar Power. Also, if you didn’t buy the DLC for Scorching Sands, you can just set up sun and go with Solar Beam.
Hope this helps! :)
