I somehow got a tart apple in my Pokemon shield and I’m wondering if it was a glitch to even get one in shield?

Well, there is currently an event with raids that allow players with either version to catch Pokémon and obtain item drops that are usually exclusive to the other version.

@KRLW890 I'm told, however, that it doesn't just take the item to evolve -- you need to be in the correct version to evolve Applin with a given Apple type.  So it doesn't matter if you have a Sweet Apple in Sword, it just won't work.  Is that not true?

Where did you get the tart apple?

@PhailRaptor I did the raid and got a sweet apple in Pokemon Sword. I then evolved Applin to Appletun, so yes, you can get evolve to get the version exclusive.

Also, it is probably not a glitch, unless you somehow found the tart apple on the ground. I am not sure about that.
