Should I use Snorlax or Tauros for my FireRed playthrough?

I am wondering which Pokemon is better to use in a playthrough of Fire Red and Leaf Green, Snorlax or Tauros?

Personally I would go Snorlax.
First, it has a higher bst of 540 while Tauros has a bst of 490.
Second, It is much easier to get as you don't need to hunt in the safari zone.
Third, Snorlax learns more hms so it's better for coverage.
Overall both are good for a play through but I would pick Snorlax.
