Does insomnia affect a self induced sleep move, like rest?

Yes it does, all sleep inducing moves won't work if you have the Ability Insomnia.

It does actually. Say if your Murkrow or something tries to use Rest with the ability Insomnia, then nothing would happen; you would not fall asleep but you would not regain life back.
