How does Seismic Toss work in gen 1?

I was playing Pokemon Blue and after countless hours of searching, I got my hands on a Chansey, I taught it Seismic Toss. I was just using it to fight Koga when I found out I am only turning an NPC's life from sucking, to ultimate hell. I was fighting a Kadabra and 3HKO'ed it with Seismic Toss, it turns out 27 x 3 is 81, and a level 32 Kadabra should have more than 81 HP.

Turns out that seismic toss's damage is calculated the same way in every generation.

Where you went wrong is that Kadabra's max HP certainly can be below 81 when it's level 32. This is the max HP formula for Generation 1.
level(2(base+IV)+sqrt(ev)/4)/100+level+10

Now, I'll put in values for the level 32 Kadabra and simplify.
32(2(40+0)+sqrt(0)/4)/100+32+10
32(2*40+0/4)/100+42
32(80+0)/100+42
32*80/100+42
2560/100+42
25+42
67
67<81, so your Chansey's seismic toss does 3HKO this Kadabra.
