How to the people in the Pokemon tv series not know about earlier evolutions?

I'm wondering how the people in the Pokemon tv series don't know about earlier Pokemon evolutions such as munchlax, pichu, etc.

This is beacuse they dont really come in contact with those certain Pokemon(may's munchlax appears a lot though) keep in mind ash has t seem all 720 Pokemon and some and pre-evo of some Pokemon (pichu for instice) ash hasnt really made
a
lot of contact with pichu(if you want a list srry bro I just cant)
