Do the Pokemon in IV breeding have to be the same species or just the same Egg Group?

Y'know, the Destiny Knot method where one has really nice IVs and the other has an Everstone to make the best baby Pokeman ever.

However, it is most commun to just use a 6IV / 5IV Ditto ^u^
