If you release a Pokemon, does it count in your Pokedex and your DexNav that you have that Pokemon?

My boxes are getting crowded with random Pokemon, and I want to keep catching more.

Yep. it works sorta like the pokedex. Once you catch it once it records permanetley and you can release and still have the data.
