I'm trying to finish up my team for my local Pokemon league. I probably wouldn't switch any of them out, just adding another to the team. I thought maybe a ground type, but I'm not sure really... Here's who I have so far;

Gengar (F) w/ Toxic orb
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Confuse Ray

Umbreon (M) w/ Leftovers
- Toxic
- Confuse Ray
- Moonlight
- Sucker Punch

Kingdra (M) w/ Scope Lens
- Surf
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Outrage

Magnezone w/ Balloon
- Thunder
- Flash Cannon
- Rain Dance
- Explosion

Arcanine (F) w/ Leftovers
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- ExtremeSpeed
- SolarBeam

Wow that's pretty good team you have there. I have a Kingdra too but not w/ Draco Meteor.

You seem to have a lot of special and mixed attackers, why not a more physically-geared Pokemon? If you want a Ground-type, Swampert is usually pretty good physically but watch out for Grass-types.

Considering you're going into a local Pokemon league, I'm guessing they prohibit legendaries. Here's a list of non-legendary Pokemon with the highest attack.

  • Rampardos (165 base attack)
  • Slaking (160 base attack)
  • Haxorus (147 base attack)
  • Archeops (140 base attack)
  • Conkeldurr (140 base attack)

I think Haxorus, Archeops, or Conkeldurr would complement your team best as Slaking's ability is crippling and Rampardos is slow with shoddy defense stats.

Ah, ha! I see. You definitly should add a grass-type Pokemon, because you have no real water counter. And do you know who is ridiculously good at this??? Yup, you may have guessed, Sawsbuck!!! He both can switch into grass type moves, and he utterly decimates any water type you might be facing!

Sawsbuck @ Life Orb
Sap Sipper
Jolly
252 Atk, 4 HP, 252 Spe
Horn Leech
Jump Kick
Mega Horn
Protect

Now I also see that the rest of your team needs some patch-ups too. First, remove Sludge Bomb from Gengar and throw on Thunderbolt for optimum efficiency. Switch out Sucker Punch for Faint Attack on Umbreon to prevent yourslef from becoming Taunt fodder. Kingdra would do much better with Yawn over Outrage because of his decent defense stats. And it could very well force some important switches. Now as for magnezone, I get where your going with this, but Expolsion in not necessary. Instead use Volt Switch to act as an offensive pivot. And what is with Solarbeam on a non-sun team??? Instead use Close Combat to just dish the damage! So thats my two cents (or two dollars?)

I'm not sure why Gengar is holding Toxic Orb if it's not tricking it, unless you predict that your opponent will be tricking an item to you? Even so, Black Sludge is better, since Toxic Orb is a useless item for Gengar.

Umbreon should have Foul Play instead of Sucker Punch. It's attack is woeful, so Foul Play is the best offensive move for it since it's calculated by your opponent's attack. It can even hit Dark and Fighting types pretty hard.

Rain Dance is a was of a turn on Magnezone unless Kingdra has Swift Swim.

Solarbeam is a waste on Arcanine since it needs 2 turns to take effect without Sunny Day/ Drought. Give it Crunch instead. I would suggest Close Combat, but that's an egg move. :/

As for your last team member, I would go for some team support, maybe Starmie or Forretress for a Rapid Spinner.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 244 HP, 252 Speed, 12 Sp. Atk
Nature: Timid (is best, but we don't live in a dream world)
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Psyshock
- Scald

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def
Nature: Relaxed
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Volt Switch

If you feel you can do without team support, then here are some physical sweepers for you.

Dragonite @ Lumberry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Jolly/ Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage/ Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake/ Roost/ Extremespeed

Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
Nature: Jolly
- Spore
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch

Though Dragonite is adding another Dragon weakness to your team, it has Multiscale, which means it will survive the first hit and be able to set up one Dragon Dance. Other good physical sweepers would be Heracross, Scrafty or Huge Power Azumarill.

Dat Breloom Fail against Hail and Sandstorm teams.
It actually works well enough even when buffetted. As long as it spores and sets up one swords dance, we're good to go.
I agree, I use it in one of my teams. bye bye Tyranitar and Hippowdon. Mach Punch & Bullet Seed

Now you said you want a ground type, but I also noticed your team will likely have a problem with speedy dragon types, such as haxorus or flygon, who are faster than kingdra. Since you have only one powerful physical sweeper, another one may be handy, and I have two ground type sweepers that may help you out.

Garchomp: life orb/leftovers
Ability: rough skin
Nature: jolly
Moves:
Outrage/dual chop
Earthquake
Stone edge
Stealth rock

This team lacks entry hazards, so this guy provides some in an offensive package. Although he has a dragon weakness, he takes care of it himself by outspeeding all other dragons. You can through a haban or yache berry on him if you want to fix those weaknesses (for one time). Life orb is for pure offense but leftovers can go on there if you want more bulk, and the evs you use should reflect your desires. Flygon can also run an identical set if garchomp is not allowed, with fire punch being an offensive option.

Unfortunately some places don't allow garchomp, so this othe poke is another option

Mamoswine: leftovers
Nature: jolly/adamant
Ability: thick fat (if unavailable go with oblivious)
Moves:
Ice shard
Earthquake
Stone edge/icicle crash/superpower
Stealth rock

Mamoswine is another option. He awesome dual stabs hit nine types supereffectively and he had STAB priority in ice shard. He also had stealth rock for entry hazard damage. He does however add a fighting weakness and of this an issue don't use him. I only mention him for the stab priority and his massive attacking ability.

Donphan and dugtrio are also notable options, as Donphan has rapid spin and dugtrio has arena trap and great speed. In summary if garchomp is allowed and availableuse him, but if he is not, flygon and mamoswine are both great options. I can put up some evs if you want. Hope this helps

I definitely thought of adding Garchomp, but I didn't because I already had a dragon type on my team. I'll probably give it a test run and see how it goes from there. Thanks a bunch, though! :D

I Guess your Arcanine has Flash Fire then Ferrothorn would be great.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Def / 168 SDef
Impish Nature

  • Spikes
  • Leech Seed
  • Power Whip
  • Thunder Wave

Hope I helped
