Do you gain experience points when you kill your in-game tag team partners Pokemon?

I am doing a tag team exploration type thing in Pinwheel Forest with Cheren and he's annoying me because he keeps killing the Pokemon I want to catch. So I was wondering if I kill his Pokemon do I get points for it?

No you don't; it just says your partner's Pokemon has fainted.

For all the trouble its worth, the wild Pokemon is going to faint before you make Cheren run out of Pokemon. Just get through the forest with Cheren (use a Repel if you want), and after he leaves you go through Pinwheel again and catch the Pokemon you wanted.
