Is it worth risking the defences lower from Shell smash on my Cloyster without a white herb?

Does it matter if the defences are lowered?

If you're about to start a sweep with a Shell Smasher, do the Defences really matter at that point? It is worth it, getting double the Attack and Speed for the lowering(by ONE Stage) of the Defence Stats. If you are still worried about the Defence drop, then run a White Herb to retain your Defences as well as get the boost.

Meh, I suppose they're both good, with your point. I thought the moveset made it better though because it was the best possible Shell Smash set for Cloyster.

I hate being trolled. It happens every day every five to ten minutes. -_- Maybe this is the reason I only have about 2100 points after 1.5 years here.

Definitely worth risking it. If you put Shell Smash on a Cloyster it's not meant to be a tank. It's turned into a sweeper.

Okay then, Focus Sash allows you to get up Shell Smash. Now you have Skill Link, which makes your STAB Icicle Spear and Rock Blast do a ton of damage while also breaking through Substitute, Sturdy, and Focus Sash. Razor Shell provides STAB, and also has a good chance of lowering the defense of the foe, which could be helpful for foes with defense boosts or resistances. Standard sweeping EVs.
