Effects
Metronome uses a random move chosen from nearly all existing moves, even if the user cannot normally learn it.
The random move is chosen at the point Metronome is used, so priority moves like Mach Punch will not go first. Although Metronome technically targets the user, the move it turns into will use its usual target (whether the opponent(s), teammate(s) or self), or target a random adjacent opponent in double/triple battles.
Metronome will not select a Z-Move or any of the following moves:
- After You
- Assist
- Baneful Bunker
- Beak Blast
- Belch
- Bestow
- Celebrate
- Chatter
- Copycat
- Counter
- Covet
- Crafty Shield
- Destiny Bond
- Detect
- Diamond Storm

If the user is holding a Choice Band, Choice Specs or Choice Scarf, multi-turn moves such as Dig or Rollout will fail on the second turn.
Z-Move effects
When a Pokémon is holding Normalium Z and uses its Z-Power, Metronome turns into Z-Metronome and becomes the Z-Move for the move selected (for example Tectonic Rage if Earthquake was chosen), in addition to its usual effect as above.
Move target
Targets the user.
