The Zoe Post documented the tumultuous relationship between Eron Gjoni and indie game developer Zoe Quinn (creator of Depression Quest). Eron provided proof of Quinn cheating on him with five others. The relationship can easily be seen as abusive, with Quinn being highly manipulative and deceitful. Sadly, Eron would be slandered by the media for coming out about this tale of abuse, being called a jilted ex-boyfriend (despite the fact that he broke up with Quinn, not the other way around). This would prove to be another example of the hypocrisy that the media shows in order to further their narrative.

Gamers make the connection between Zoe Quinn and Nathan Grayson, a writer for gaming website Kotaku. Nathan Grayson was one of the five people who Zoe Quinn cheated with. Grayson wrote articles spotlighting Quinn's game, and had even wrote an article on her very close to the time when their relationship would first start.

While Zoe Quinn may be an awful person (as both the Zoe Post and the coming days would reveal), she is not at fault for the ethical breaches perpetrated by Nathan Grayson. Grayson is without a doubt one of the worst writers in the gaming industry, although that title would be in hot contention when more unethical behavior among gaming journalists would be revealed.

And so began one of the biggest controversies in gaming. It would bring together people from all walks of life in the campaign against unethical journalism. Things would happen quickly in the next days, with a wave of censorship creating a Streisand effect the likes of which the internet has not seen before. Journalists would turn on their audience, collaboration between members of the press would be unveiled, and a hashtag would be coined by a popular actor. The ride never ends.

Hard to believe that it's been a year since the Zoe Post was first published and kickstarted the whole series of events and discoveries that would eventually lead to the formation of GamerGate. https://wiki.gamergate.me/index.php?title=Timeline

Fantastic article regarding GamerGate: http://gamepolitics.com/2015/08/12/challenge-accepted-interviewing-internet-hashtag#.VcsJxvlViko

Brad Glasgow performed his job excellently in regards to finding a way to interview the leaderless mass of people that make up GamerGate. He asked some tough questions and gave us a fair shot, which is more than most journalists give GamerGate.
