Grass and Water Pledge combo?

Question

I was on random match-up and i was battling a samurott and a serperior in a double battle (i won YAY) and they used grass pledge and water pledge what does the marsh do that is created. And how does grass and water pledge work?

Please help answer this question.

basically the info on how it works is-
>Moves Required: Water Pledge & Grass Pledge
Effect:
When you use the move Water Pledge and then the move Grass Pledge during a Double or Triple battle, the move will combine and turn the field into a swampy moor style area which lowers the speed of your opponent's Pokémon.
