What is the point of the battle frontier in platinum?

I don't get Exp. points,my pokemon don't level up,all I do is battle.so what is the point of the battle frontier?

You can earn Battle Points (BP) which you can use to buy tms and other items. You can also test/use battle strategies at the battle frontier with different criteria that changes with each type of battle.
