There is only five digits in each ID code, which would mean at a maximum there is 10,000 possible ID numbers. I may be wrong, but I believe there is more than 10,000 people that play pokemon. So is it possible some people share ID numbers? What would happen if two of those people traded?

Yes, but after Gen II there was a second secret ID number, so the game would reconize them.

>From Generation III onward, there is a second, secret ID number, different from the visible one. This number exists purely to make sure that even if two Trainers share the exact same name and gender and the exact same Trainer ID number, the game will still recognize their Pokémon as coming from different Trainers. -Bulbepedia

And before Gen II, there weren't many people playing Pokemon, so it didn't matter

Hope This Helped :D

>If two different Trainers have the same Trainer name, identical ID numbers and identical hidden ID numbers (a 1 in 4,294,967,296 chance if the names do not differ), the game will recognize the two Trainers as the same, so the Pokémon are not considered to be outsider Pokémon.

It is possible, but you are more likely to find a Shiny Pokemon swarm then this happening.

It's incredibly rare, but technically it's physically possible.
