Instead of trading you can migrate your pokemon

Once you beat the game once, you will have the option to go to a place called the pal park. There you can transfer pokemon from your emerald to your diamond. Here all the following instructions on what to do.

YOU MUST HAVE A DS OR DS LITE TO DO THIS. DSI AND 3DS DO NOT WORK

  1. Put pokemon emerald in your gameboy slot.

  2. On the main menu after beating the game there is an option to transfer pokemon

  3. Choose up to six pokemon to transfer to your diamond

  4. Go to pal park

  5. Catch your pokemon

YOU CANNOT GET YOUR POKEMON BACK ONCE YOU TRANSFER THEM TO DIAMOND

And for your second question, there is shinies in all the generations except for generation one. (red and blue maybe yellow)

Okay, so yes you can trade Pokemon from Emerald to Diamond by going to Pal Park, but keep this in mind, you need a DS that has a Gameboy slot. And yes you can get shinies from the 2nd gen.( Hope This Helps!) :)

You can't trade between 3rd and 4th Gen for obvious reasons, but you can transfer Pokemon from 3rd Gen games (Ruby,Sapphire,Emerald,FireRed,LeafGreen) to 4th Gen games (Diamond,Pearl,Platinum,HeartGold,SoulSilver). All you need is a DS or DS Lite.
