They ARE real trainers POKEMON. You see when in the battle subway it recieves the records of the trainers and then DISCONNECTS FROM WIFI BEFORE THE BATTLE. So you are fighting the trainers sprite, name and pokemon wiuth same stats but the person controlling the trainer is a computer. So you are facing real trainers but not a live battle meaning that the use AIS to choose there moves.
