Can you get over 999 Pokeballs?

When you have 999 Pokeballs, is it possible to buy more to get over 1000 Pokeballs?
Example:
Player bought 999 Pokeballs
Player bought 10 Pokeballs

So, would you have over 1000 Pokeballs, or stay at 999?

Actually, you guys are both wrong. Once you buy 999 Pokeballs and try to buy more, the receptionist tells you:

You can't take any more of this item.

So your Answer is no, you cannot get more than 999 Pokeballs.
