Is it possible to trade a pokemon from the national dex onto a game that only has local dex?

i diddnt think it would work but i trade my palkia and dialga onto my cousins black version and he only had the local dex scince he had only just started the game.
it worked but will this pokemons data stay on his pokedex?
i also traded other pokemon from platinum and soulsilver

yes,he will still have the pokemon data until he unlocks the pokedex
