Houndoom or Drapion for HG/SS playthroughs?

Question

I'm looking for a dark type that would theoretically be best in Pokemon Soulsilver.

Assume both Pokemon are available from the start of the game.

Megas aren't even in SoulSilver.

If everything Fizz said is true, I'd say Houndoom is better because fire is a better offensive type than both poison and dark, and special attack is usually more useful than physical defense for singleplayer.

If you did not pick Typhlosion as your starter Pokémon, Houndoom is your preffered option, as it's Fire typing gives it more coverage. However, if your team does have a prominent Fire type I'd reccomend using Drapion.
