PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

It sounds stupid but I literally cannot find any guide on how Paradox Pokémon are different to normal Pokémon in terms of gameplay. I know they have past and future forms and that they look extremely similar to other Pokémon but how are they different in gameplay? Do they have different or more powerful movesets or something?

Paradox Pokémon

They are Past and Future versions of present day Pokémon. Paradoxes based on normal Pokémon have a BST of 570, while Paradoxes based on Legendaries and Mythicals have a BST of 590. Paradox Pokémon have a signature ability, one for Past and one for Future. Movesets are not unique, although Paradoxes based on Legendaries / Mythicals have a signature move. Their gender is also unknown and they cannot breed.

Past Paradoxes:

  • All Stat categories are odd
  • Ability is always Protosynthesis
  • Ability is activated by Sun or Booster Energy

Future Paradoxes:

  • All stat categories are even
  • Ability is always Quark Drive
  • Ability is activated by Electric Terrain or Booster Energy
  • Name always starts with Iron

Hope I helped!

Thank you!
You’re welcome!
In short, this generation's gimmick group like the ultra beasts
Iron Leaves, Iron Crown, and Iron Boulder also have signature moves.
@Amethyst thanks for reminding me.
