Is there a way I can just get or buy shards in Platinum?

because digging underground takes to long and i never can get the shards i need

No, unfortunately not. You just have to keep digging.

Here'a a tip: note how many items it says are in the walls. If you start to uncover a sphere, just ignore it and start digging in another area. If it said "3 items" and you found 3 spheres, just give up and look in another wall. That way you can find all the items quickly.

Actually if you have some star pieces you can go to Mr.fuego in the fugo ironworks and give him a star peice and he will give you one of each shard.
