Does Illusion affect NPC decision making in Sword/Shield?

Question

If I am battling a NPC, and I send out Zoroark with Illusion, will the NPC's decision making be affected by the illusion? Or will the NPC effectively ignore the illusion?

I don't know about SwSh, but I have heard that disguising Zoroark as something weak to psychic makes it invulnerable against any NPC with a psychic attack in gen 7.

With my testing, I disguised my Zorark as a Toxicroak and for the first few turns the AI would assume that it was Toxicroak then started using other moves

Can you be more detailed about the test you did? What Pokemon were you against and how/where did you encounter it? What moves did it use on each turn?
