Is this a good level for battling Lance?

Question

So I'm playing Pokemon HG and I'm about to battle Lance for the very first time.

This is my current Pokemon set up:
Typhlosion-Level 44
Ampharos-Level 45
Noctowl-Level 42
Primeape-Level 42
Azumarill-Level 44
Mamoswine-Level 50

What would be a good level to reach for all of them before I take on Lance? And where would be a good place for level grinding to get there?

This might be enough to defeat him on your first try. If not, just keep battling him until you win. It's much faster than grinding.

If you give Mamoswine the Rock Slide TM, it can deal with 4/6 of the team. Ampharos and Azumarill should be able to deal with Gyarados and Aerodactyl respectively.

First, Mamoswine can't learn rock slide until post-game. Second, just because a Pokemon knows a super effective move doesn't mean it can "deal with" an opponent. By this logic, 3 of Lance's Pokemon can deal with Mamoswine.

Sorry about the whole Rock Slide thing, I didn't know the TM was obtained after reaching Kanto. Anyways, why I was saying that Mamoswine could manage beating most of Lance's team was because of Dragonite's x4 Ice weakness paried with Mamoswine and Dragonite's equal base Speed and Mamoswines incredibly high attack, Mamoswine should be able to outspeed and OHKO them. Mamoswine will also gain levels from the rest of the E4, insuring that each Dragonite will be finished off. Ampharos should be able to 2HKO Gyarados with Thunderbolt, and the rest of the team should be able to handle Charizard and Aerodactyl.

Your team ranges from level 42 to level 50, that is enough for the E4, I was able to defeat them with level 40-42 Pokemon before so you should be fine, especially since you have Mamoswine for his 3 Dragonite. Hopefully, this helps :)

No, that's just in the Kanto games. In games where he's a champion though, his team consists of 3 Dragonite, Charizard, Gyarados, and Aerodactyl.
