How does Focus Punch work when used by Dynamaxed Pokemon in the Max Lair?

Question

I'm talking about the Pokemon you face that can use moves other than the maxed ones. In one battle, My Tauros used Max Strike against a Gurdurr after it had tightened it's focus. When Gurdurr's turn came, it was still able to use Focus Punch. Is it possible to stop a Dynamaxed Pokemon's Focus Punch, or will they always be able to use it without fail?

I believe the answer would be that the Dynamaxed Pokémon can always use Focus Punch.

Have you experienced the second possibility of the Pokemon taking a lot of damage? If so, how much damage does the Dynamaxed Pokemon need to take?
