PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I'm looking for a multi-purpose egg hatcher/Pokemon catcher with a good type combo, abilities, stats, moveset, etc. My current one, Chandelure, just got wrecked by a shiny Drakloak and I lost a shiny, so I want a better one.

The Pokemon should have Flame Body, Steam Engine or Magma Armor. A moveset would be useful.

I've edited the question to improve the phrasing. If it no longer represents what you're looking for, then please adjust it, taking care to write clearly.
You could use legendary Pokémon like Heatran and Moltres but if you don’t have the dlc they might be hard to obtain
P.S Rip Shiny Drakloak, good luck going forward
Ok sure ill use em
Unfortunately no singular mon meets those requirements, you would have to go with a team of 2
False swipe is helpful as you can bring any non-ghost type to 1 hp without killing it.
Dracoloak is ghost so I failed it with false swipe but with some stroke of luck an hour later I got a shiny Lycanroc dusk the color is cool

The single best Pokemon to use as a hatcher is Heatran. As a legendary, it has impressive stats that allow it to deal a lot of damage and not take a lot in return, making it unlikely to be knocked out. With its amazing Fire/Steel typing, it resists 9 types, is immune to 1, and is weak to 3. This makes it defensive enough to take a hit, and with Flame Body, it can hatch Eggs in half the time it usually takes.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
- Lava Plume / Flamethrower
- Earthquake / Earth Power
- Iron Head
- Crunch / Dragon Pulse

The unequivocal best Pokemon catcher in Sword & Shield is Gallade. With a high Attack stat, a boosting move, False Swipe, Rain Dance, and status moves, it can keep almost any Pokemon alive long enough to catch it. Its only two downfalls are not being able to block Self-Destruct/Explosion/Memento and not being able to touch Ghost types, but those cases are rare. An argument could be made for Pangoro, which has both Scrappy and False Swipe, but Gallade is typically better.

Gallade @ Muscle Band / Silk Scarf
Ability: Steadfast
- False Swipe
- Swords Dance
- Rain Dance
- Thunder Wave

If you want a single Pokemon that can both effectively catch others and hatch Eggs, your choices are more limited. Scyther or Scizor are good False Swipe alternatives, but neither have any way to make hatching Eggs go faster. For this reason, the best choice would probably be Magmortar. The other contender is Kantonian Moltres, but it's got a few things going against it:

  • Moltres requires transferring or Dynamax Adventures
  • Flame Body is the Hidden Ability, meaning you need an Ability Patch

Magmortar isn't the best choice either, seeing as it's a bit frail and can't earn False Swipe, but it's the best you can do to fulfill both the roles you want.

Magmortar @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
- Sunny Day
- Taunt
- Facade / Will-O-Wisp
- Fire Punch

If you really want to use Moltres, it does work. As a legendary, it holds its own, though it can be a bit of an annoyance to get -- but if you're hypothetically willing to use Heatran like you said in the comments, that probably won't be an issue.

Moltres @ Damp Rock / Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
- Rain Dance
- Mystical Fire / Facade
- Air Slash / Facade
- Roost

Since your mentioning Galarian Moltres and thus the Crowned Tundra anyways, aren't Kantonian Moltres and Ability Patches (for HAs) available in Dynamax Adventures?
So it can -- thanks for letting me know. I'll update my answer.
I would choose silk scarf over muscle band but since I don't know if it is better
The Gallade I used for catching held a Muscle Band because that was what I had on hand. A Silk Scarf is better if the only attacking move you plan on using is False Swipe, and not some other move to get HP down a bit faster.

This is a bit of a risky answer, but as I pointed this out earlier in the comments, no singular Pokemon meets the requirements of:
Having an Egg-related ability
False Swipe (for obvious reasons)
Status Move (mainly Sleep/Paralysis)

However I have found 2 (potentially 3) Pokemon that can help you out

The first Pokemon will be Kantonian Rapidash, it has the qualities of having Flame Body as an ability and the status move Hypnosis, which can raise your chances of catching the Pokemon you want, provided the move actually lands.

The second Pokemon will be Pangoro. If I'm correct, it's the only Pokemon that can have the ability Scrappy and the move False Swipe, so you can use it against those pesky ghost types, like the Drakloak that unfortunately fainted your Chandelure.

And the third Pokemon, which is entirely situational, will be Pyukumuku, as it learns the move Purify, which can heal the burns of the Pokemon that might've gotten affected by Rapidash's Flame Body.

Hopefully this answer helps
