Why is Mawile a Steel-type?

I can understand why Mawile is a Fairy-type. Its probably because of how they have a docile and cute look. I am very sure that Mawile is based off a Japanese Yokai called the Futakuchi-Onna (The Woman with Two Mouth), because of its appearence and behavior. Its Dex entry states that it tricks foes by acting sweet, but then eats them brutally afterwards, just like the said Yokai's behavior. They also look like the Futakuchi-Onna, by having one mouth on their face and the other on their hair(?).

However, I don't understand it's Steel typing. Wouldn't it make more sense if it's a Dark or Ghost-type, knowing that it is based on Yokais which are basically monsters/spirits?

MAWILE’s huge jaws are actually steel horns that have been transformed. Its docile-looking face serves to lull its foe into letting down its guard. When the foe least expects it, MAWILE chomps it with its gaping jaws.

Its most notable feature is a pair of large black jaws emerging from the back of its head. These jaws have an oval yellow spot on their top surface and contain ten pointed teeth - six on the top row and four on the bottom. While the jaws are said to actually be transformed steel horns, Mawile can articulate them at will, using them to bite enemies and chew through iron beams.

So it's because of it's jaws, which are made up of stronk Steel.

Stronk is a slang word for "strong"
