Should I use avalanche or Ice Punch on my Swampert in gen 8 OU?

Question

I'm making a starter-only Team for gen 8 OU and my Swampert needs Ice Coverage so should I use avalanche or Ice Punch?

Ice Punch. Much less risk if your opponent runs status or switches and also 10% chance to freeze. It would be easier to say if you should run Ice Punch at all if you said what your whole Swampert's set was (EVs, nature, other moves, etc.)

Avalanche doesn't work based on your speed. Avalanche has negative priority.

doesn't really change anything. Ice Punch is still better. And status/switching still ruins Avalanche. But thank you, I'll edit that part out now
