In Pokémon shuffle, how does Vitality Drain calculate its damage if the opponent has no HP?

In Pokémon shuffle, Vitavity Drain(I know that one of the Pokemon’s that learn it is Sceptile) does damage based on the opponent’s HP. But then, in special event battles like the mega Pokemons, like Gyrados(current mega event), have no HP and only rank you based on your score. So how does this move calculate damage?

Does vitality drain trigger on non-hp targets like the Mega Blastoise event?

Consensus looks like it doesn't seem to : (

indeed triggers, but does 0 damage.
