Is there chain fishing in games that aren’t gen 6?

That there is chain fishing in multiple generations. I’m confused.

In Generation VI, fishing mechanics remain mostly unchanged, with the removal of rippling water and the addition of consecutive fishing.

Fishing at the same spot repeatedly can increase chances of encountering Brilliant Pokémon and Shiny Pokémon.

It seems chain fishing comes back in Sword and Shield, though it may not be called chain fishing.
