PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I was thinking of getting sheild (and a Nintendo switch) lately and the new controversial mechanic seems very fun to me. The only problem is that is that the only difference I know between gigantamaxing and dynamaxing is that gigantamaxing changes the Pokemons appearance. Do gmax Pokemon have better stats? Do gmax Pokemon get stronger moves?

Gigantamax Pokémon are not stronger than Dynamax Pokémon.
Gigantamaxing is an appearance change. Unlike Mega Evolution, their typing, abilities, nor base stats change.

The only perk of Gigantamaxing over Dynamaxing is their Max Move. All Gigantamax Pokémon have a special move, with secondary effects different from any other. As with any other regular Dynamax move, the power of the Max move depends on the Base Power of the base Move.

It depends. They don't get better stats, and only some of the moves are better. In some cases, the Max Move is better (i.e. Max Knuckle is better than G-Max Chi Strike). However, the G-Max move is on occasion better, or can be better. G-Max Resonance is better than Max Hailstorm, setting up Aurora Veil, which is in most cases better than setting up Hail. A potential move that could be better, but isn't always, is G-Max Gold Rush. This is generally better when you want to farm money.

So they don't have better stats, and the moves are only better on occasion.

Hope I helped!
