Why won't the egg hatch?

Question

OK basically I bred 2 of my pokemons together, and when I got the egg from the daycare man the egg watch said "not even close to hatching". So I walked from route 1 to victory road TWICE and the egg watch remained at "not even close to hatching". why??

Hatching an egg:

• Some Pokémon has very high steps to hatch an egg needed
• You must have it in party, if you put in PC, it will "restart".
• Magma Armor / Flame Body ability Pokémon as a lead would make it hatch twice as fast
