Do Pokemon gain EVs if they didn't participate in the battle?

So I finally found a competitively viable Gible, and I was really excited, so I put it in the party to level it up. After a couple of battles, I realised that I completely forgot about EV training. But my Gible hadn't actively participated in a single battle- it was leveling up with the exp share. So I was wondering- would still receive the EVs from those battles?

Yes.

From Generation V onward, any Pokémon eligible to gain experience, even if they are level 100, gains all EVs awarded from that battle.

So your Gible definitely received those EVs, so if you want those perfect 252 EVs you'll need to use the EV reducing berries.
