Eg: I have a pokemon holding life orb and he knows volt switch/u-turn. He has only 1 hp left (same if he has less than 10) and I use volt switch. Will the move's power be increased normally by the life orb and by switching out I'll evade the damage? Or I'll be damaged by the life orb and faint?
